I have always found vintage call boxes intriguing. This one is too small to have been used in a hotel so it is probably from a large house or mansion circa 1910. The boxes were used to notify the servants which room they were needed in. A button or bell pull was used to activate the number that was associated with that room to call the servants. I find the boxes graphically interesting as well as having a curious past. This one measures 7 1/2" wide by 12 1/2" tall by 2 1/4" deep. Click on images to enlarge. (sold) I currently have one other oak call box in stock, just ask for photos.
